Clerk's Office Tests Evening Hours for Passport Services in Clinton Township

Residents can make special evening appointments March 21, April 4 and April 18 to file their passport information at the Clinton Township Clerk's Office.

The Clinton Township Clerk's Office will offer special evening hours on three upcoming dates to provide time outside regular office hours for residents to submit passport applications.

The office will accept evening appointments between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. March 21, April 4 and April 18. Call 586-286-9422 to make an appointment or for more information.

Most U.S. citizens entering the U.S. by land or sea ports are now required to have a passport, passport card or travel document approved by the Department of Homeland Security, according to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

As a Passport Acceptance Agent, the Clinton Township Clerk’s Office can process applications for first-time travelers as well as those seeking to renew their current passports.

The necessary forms are available on the State Department website and can be filled in online and printed out, or printed out and completed by hand.

Although the clerk’s office does not take passport photos, this service is offered by stores such as CVS and Walgreens for a fee.

Standard processing fees apply but checks are the only acceptable form of payment in the clerk's office. As the clerk’s office does not offer expedited service, residents can expect to receive their passports in approximately four to six weeks.

The clerk's office is located within the Civic Center at 40700 Romeo Plank Rd., near Canal.
