Clinton Township Police Sending Honor Guard to Washington D.C. for National Police Week

National Police Week draws in between 25,000 to 40,000 attendees from around the world.

Clinton Township Honor Guard will be among thousands descending on Washington D.C. for National Police Week.

The May 15 ceremony will pay tribute to law enforcement members in a series of scheduled events, drawing an estimated 25,000-40,000 attendees.

The National Peace Officers' Memorial Service, sponsored by the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, will include a candlelight vigil to honor law enforcement members who died in the line of duty, according to National Police Week organizers.

Clinton Township police remembers late Officer Richard Vauris, a retired Detroit Police Department veteran and negotiator for township police, who was fatally shot in 2001.
