Clinton Twp. Man Arrested for Drilling Gas Tanks in Romeo Plank-Canal Area
David Alan Surkovich, 22, was arrested late Wednesday night after an area homeowner caught him under his vehicle and contacted Clinton Township police.

Clinton Township Police have arrested a 22-year-old Clinton Township man in connection with at least in the area of Romeo Plank and Canal.
David Alan Surkovich, who police say is a resident of the affected area, was arrested late Wednesday night after a Clinton Township resident caught him under his pickup truck. Police were called and a short chase followed.
Surkovich was arraigned Thursday on a charge of malicious destruction of property in 41B District Court in Clinton Township. His bond was set at $5,000, or 10 percent cash/surety. Surkovich posted bond and is due back in court Sept. 26.

At the time of his arrest, Surkovich was found with an electric drill, glass crack pipe and bottle of Suboxen pills prescribed to another individual, according to police.
Once in custody, police say he admitted to drilling into the gas tanks of at least five vehicles in the area and taking approximately one gallon of gas from each.

The suspect told police he needed the gas to travel to job interviews.
