Clinton Twp. Police Search for Suspect in Royal Motel Stabbing
Police say they are searching for a 50-year-old Mount Clemens man who allegedly stabbed another man Tuesday at the Gratiot motel.

Clinton Township police are searching for a 50-year-old Mount Clemens resident accused of stabbing another man Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Motel on Gratiot.
The victim, a 37-year-old Pontiac man, told police he was staying at the motel on 34410 Gratiot Ave. with a friend when the suspect and another individual came to visit. When the friend left for work, the three were still in the room and an argument broke out between the victim and the suspect, according to the police report.Â

Shortly after the argument started, the victim told police he attempted to leave the motel room with his personal belongings when the suspect pushed him out the door, put him in a headlock and started swinging at him.
During the fight, the suspect pulled out a gold-handled folding lockblade buck knife and stabbed him in the left shoulder, the victim told police.

Another man staying at the motel broke up the fight. But, when the victim attempted to call 911, a second fight started as the suspect tried to stop the victim from calling the police. Escaping from the suspect, the victim told police he ran to a neighboring business where he asked them to call 911.
It is unknown what started the fight, but the victim did admit to police he had slashed the tires on his friend’s bike before the argument, according to the police report. Â
Police say drug paraphernalia, such as syringes and cut aluminum cans, were found in the motel room.
The suspect has not yet been arrested, but will face a charge of aggravated felonious assault, according police.
