DIA Offers Special Tours for Clinton Twp. Residents as Part of Inside/Out Project

Time is running out for Clinton Township residents to visit Vincent Van Gogh at The Mall at Partridge Creek or Claude Monet at George George Memorial Park. 

The Detroit Institute of Art's Inside/Out project, which brought six reproductions of masterpieces from its collection to the streets and parks of Clinton Township in June, is scheduled to remove the works at the end of September.

These include:

• Claude Monet's Gladioli at George George Memorial Park
• Michiel van Musscher's The Sinfonia at Clinton-Macomb Public Library Main Branch
• Unknown Egyptian artist's Head of a Woman at Old Moravian Hall in Historical Village near Civic Center
• Eanger Irving Couse's Chief Shoppenegons at Civic Center building
• Suzuki Kiitsu's Reeds and Cranes at Senior Activity Center
• Vincent Van Gogh's Portrait of Postman Roulin at The Mall at Partridge Creek 

As part of the partnership with the project, Clinton Township residents were to enjoy free entry to the DIA on Sept. 16. However, with the , making every day a free day for Macomb County residents, Clinton Township residents will instead have the opportunity to tour the museum with special guides on that Sunday.

In addition to admission being waived for Macomb County residents, the DIA has also reserved funds to provide free field trip transportation for thousands of school children from across the tri-county area, Executive Director of the DIA's Division of Learning & Interpretation Jennifer Czajkowski told Clinton Township board members Sept. 10.

The artwork in the vicinity of the Civic Center will remain on display during the township's Festival of the Senses Sept. 22-23.
