Hatchet-Wielding Man Chases After Confused Neighbor

The suspect was charged with a count of felonious assault Tuesday morning, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

A 27-year-old man was arraigned Tuesday morning in 41B District Court in Clinton Township for allegedly chasing his neighbor with a hatchet during a drunken rage.

Brett Jones of Harrison Township faces a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. He was lodged in Macomb County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 cash/surety bond.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, Jones had been drinking early Tuesday morning at a nearby bar when he said someone threw a rock at his car windshield. As he described the damage to his girlfriend, his 36-year-old neighbor pulled up, leading the suspect to surmise he was the culprit. He then grabbed a hatchet and began to chase the Port Huron Township native.
