Macomb County Man Charged After Shooting Neighbor's Dog: Police
Prosecutors said the man shot the dog after the animal came too close to his property line.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Clinton Township man is in trouble after fatally shooting his neighbor's dog last month, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Andrae Maurice Jones, 43, was charged with third-degree killing or torturing an animal (four-year felony), using a firearm during the commission of a felony (two-year felony), careless discharge of a firearm (one-year misdemeanor) and malicious destruction of property between $200 and $1,000 (one-year misdemeanor), according to the prosecutor's office.
Jones was placed in jail with a $20,000 bond. If he posts bond, he cannot have any contact with the dog's owners or hold any firearms or ammunition, according to the prosecutor's office.

His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 16.
Prosecutors said Jones shot and killed his neighbor's dog, Buddy, after the animal came too close to his property line in Clinton Township on Aug. 15.

"Under Michigan law, intentionally killing a dog is a four-year felony," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. "The consequences of the defendant's actions extend beyond just legal repercussions. The family is now grieving the loss of a beloved family member. We will ensure the defendant faces the consequences of his alleged actions."
