Macomb County Sinkhole Repairs On Schedule
Replacement piping is being delivered and will be installed next month. Sewage should start to flow through the repaired site by Labor Day.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — If all goes as planned, sewage will begin flowing through brand new piping at the site of Macomb County’s infamous sinkhole along along 15 Mile Road by Labor Day. Sections of the 9-foot 2-inch diameter replacement pipe arrived on the site, which borders Fraser and Clinton Township, this week. Installation is due to start in August after work on the trench it will be encased in is complete.
“This community is never going to have another sinkhole,” said Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller. “It’s not going to happen.”
“I’m glad that we haven’t had any additional overflows of sewage because those go through the backyards of residents of Clinton Township, through parks in Clinton Township, then through Mount Clemens, then through Harrison Township, then through the lake,” Clinton Township Supervisor Bob Cannon said. “We’re pleased that we don’t have to have that calamity.”
