Police Arrest Suspected Safe Thieves
Clinton Township Police on Monday arrested a pair of men in connection with theft of a safe.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A pair of Metro Detroit men are charged with larceny in connection with a theft in Clinton Township last week. Karae Prince, 32, of Clinton Township and Robert Smith, 24 of Centerline, were charged with the four-year felony in 41B District Court Monday.
Police believe the duo broke into the Hockey Academy on Kelly Court in Clinton Township on July 13 at about 8 p.m. Once inside, the allegedly stole a small safe, according to police reports. Video of the incident from Hockey Academy was turned over to authorities and subsequently broadcasted by local television stations.
Clinton Township Capt. Richard Maierle said the video help officers identify and apprehend Prince and Smith on Monday. “The quick apprehension shows why every business should have high quality video,” Maierle said in a news release.
