Police Chase Leads To Crash, 2 Hurt

What started as a domestic dispute ended up with Clinton Township police chasing a 33-year-old suspect.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI β€” A 33-year-old man was expected to be arraigned Thursday after leading Clinton Township Police on a chase that injured two people. The incident began at 5:30 p.m. near 16 Mile Road and Harper Avenue, where police were taking a report about a domestic disturbance between the suspect and his girlfriend, according to a Macomb Daily report.

β€œDetective Capt. Richard Maierle said while officers were taking the report, the girlfriend looked up and saw the suspect driving by. She pointed out the vehicle to police, who jumped in their patrol vehicles to make a stop.”
β€œOfficers pursued the suspect for a while and eventually the chase ended up near Harper and Shook Road, where the suspect’s car clipped at least one car. The suspect then headed south on Union Lake Road near Harper, where he crashed into a Honda occupied by a couple. His car -- which came to rest a few feet from a Clinton Co-op Townhouse -- caught on fire.”
