Popular Macomb County Gastropub Abruptly Closes

The restaurant was best known for its burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of sides.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A popular gastropub in Clinton Township abruptly closed Sunday.

Bobcat Bonnie’s, located at the Mall at Partridge Creek on Hall Road, permanently closed down Sunday, Owner Matt Buskard announced on Facebook.

Buskard did not give a specific reason for the closure.

"We could give a million negative reasons as to why we are here but there’s no point," Buskard wrote in the post.

Instead, Buskard wants to focus on the positives of coming to the Mall at Partridge Creek, including quickly occupying the former Max and Erma’s restaurant's space, "inheriting an amazing group of humans" and overcoming challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The restaurant opened in mid-February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic.

"COVID gave us a ton of challenges ‒ but forced us to grow ‒ we had some amazing years," Buskard wrote in the post.

Buskard said staff and employees will have the option to move to other stores.

"We will always do right by our staff some will move to other stores, some may move on, but either way we will ensure they are taken care of," Buskard wrote in the post.

There are other Bobcat Bonnie’s stores in Ferndale, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Wyandotte and Ypsilanti, and the original location in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood.

The restaurant is best known for its burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of sides.

"In all the sadness that comes with this- I can’t help but truly feel grateful and honored to have been so warmly accepted into your community," Buskard wrote in the post. "We hope we can continue to see you and serve you at our other locations, and then eventually back in your neighborhood."
