MACOMB COUNTY, MI — A 19-month-old Harrison Township girl drowned Wednesday evening. Chloe Lawson fell into a canal adjacent to the home in the 38000 block of Mallast Street around 7 p.m., according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.
CPR was attempted on the toddler and she was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, but was pronounced dead. The family was barbecuing when they noticed the child was not in the house with the other small children, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Reports said the family began to look for the child and found her in the canal directly behind the home. She was pulled from the canal and was not breathing. The home sits just north of L’Anse Creuse Bay in Lake St. Clair.
