Broken Taillight Leads to Drug Arrest in Dearborn

Dearborn Police arrested a 23-year-old man near the intersection of the northbound M-39 service drive and Michigan Avenue for suspicion of marijuana.

According to police reports, on March 16 officers on routine patrol observed a Crown Victoria traveling westbound on Michigan Avenue near Mercury Drive emitting a bright white light from a cracked taillight.

While conducting a traffic stop, the vehicle's driver informed police that he had no driver's license or ID. Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the car, police said, and observed the driver stuffing an unknown item into a duffel bag on his lap.

Officers cited probable cause and performed a consent search of the driver and vehicle. According to reports, while searching the driver's duffel bag, police discovered a sandwich bag with 11 vials of suspected marijuana. The man was placed under arrest and taken to Wayne County Jail.
