“That’s a big pull for people,” she said, adding that it usually sells out within the first few hours of the sale.

At the same time, the Historical Museum will be hosting its third annual Trunk Sale in Lizzie’s Pasture on the corner of Michigan Ave. and Brady St., right outside the McFadden Ross House. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can rent out a space, load their trunk up with various items from their home, then park their car in the lot and sell their items.

“It’s almost like having a garage sale in your trunk,” Baumgardner said.

The vehicles will be lined up in two rows with the trunks facing each other, so that patrons can walk up and down the aisle to shop.

As of Monday, April 22, spots for the Trunk Sale are still available. A 10 x 20 space costs $15, or $10 for members of the Historical Museum or the Dearborn Hills Civic Association. To reserve a spot, call the Historical Museum at 313-565-3000.
