Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church Presents Aaron Tan In Concert

Aaron Tan will be performing his music on the church's custom built Austin Pipe Organ and Bosendorfer Imperial Grand Piano on Feb. 26.

From Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church: Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn will present Aaron Tan in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017. The concert will include music performed on the church’s custom built Austin Pipe Organ and rare Bosendorfer Imperial Grand Piano.

Tan is a passionate organist, pianist and materials scientist who received his Associate (ARCT) in piano performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Canada. At the age of 12, he earned his Licentiate (LTCL) and Fellowship (FTCL) diplomas in piano performance from Trinity College of Music in London, England.

He later completed Associate and Fellowship diplomas in organ from the Royal Canadian College of Organists while concurrently studying engineering science at the University of Toronto. After completing a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2012, he began work as a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Michigan’s Laboratory for Complex Materials and Thin Films Research.

In addition, Tan recently completed a four-year position as organ scholar at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Detroit and was soon after appointed artist-in-residence at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Detroit.

A recipient of numerous organ and piano competitions, Tan regularly performs on both the piano and organ.

“We are honored to have Tan perform at our church as part of our year-long concert series,” said Rev. Mark Phillips, pastor of Cherry Hill Presbyterian.

A free-will offering will be received during the performance. Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church is located at 24100 Cherry Hill, at the northwest intersection with Telegraph Road in Dearborn.
