Computer, Technology Classes Available at Dearborn Public Library

Classes will be held in May through July at the Henry Ford Centennial Library.

The Automation Department at the Dearborn Public Library is offering free classes to help residents learn how to use computers and other electronic devices.

The classes are free, but registration is required as space is limited. Registration begins one week prior to the start of each class. All classes are conducted in the technology training room on the first floor at Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave.

The computer schedule includes:

  • Internet Basics, 2-4 p.m., May 17 and June 28
  • Introduction to email, 2-4 p.m., May 31
  • Introduction to Microsoft Word, 2-4 p.m., June 7 and July 19
  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel, 2-4 p.m. June 14 and July 26
  • Computer Basics, 2-4 p.m., June 21
  • Working with Digital Photos, 2-4 p.m., July 12

The popular Tech Time classes are being again offered and allow students to sign up for a half-hour time slot to meet one-on-one with an automation specialist to learn how to use any device.

Participants should bring the device and any necessary accessories with them to the one-on-one session. Tech Time training will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. May 15; 6 to 8 p.m. May 28; and 2 to 4 p.m. on June 12.

Other group class offerings will discuss the Overdrive e-book download program and how to use the Apple iPad. Overdrive e-books will be held 2-4 p.m. May 23, and 6-8 p.m. on June 25.

Apple iPad training will be offered 2-4 p.m. on June 4.
