Dearborn City Council Approves Street Resurfacing Projects

DiPonio Contracting, Inc. will begin street resurfacing and water main replacement this summer.

A busy summer of street resurfacing, along with water main replacement will soon get under way in Dearborn.

The Dearborn City Council approved a $1.6 million contract with DiPonio Contracting, Inc. at its meeting on May 8.

The contract calls for water main replacement and asphalt resurfacing on Sherwood Court along Linden Street; Birchcrest Drive along Sherwood Court; Nowlin Street from Pelham to Byrd; and along Waynewood Court at Snow Street.

Asphalt resurfacing will also take place on Byrd Street from Carlysle to Ash streets, and Detroit Street from Carlysle to Nowlin streets.

The council also authorized up to $75,000 in contingincies for the project.

"This construction is part of the city's ongoing maintenance of local roads," council president Tom Tafelski said.

DiPonio provided the lowest price of the six bids the city received. A project start date has not been announced as of this posting.
