Dearborn Girl, 15, Hit By Car Near Fordson High School: Police

The Fordson High School student​​ was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, according to police.​​

DEARBORN, MI — A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured Friday morning after she was hit by a car near Fordson High School in Dearborn, according to police.

The crash happened at 7:35 a.m. near the intersection of Ford and Schaefer roads in Dearborn, according to police.

The Fordson High School student was struck near the intersection by a black Jeep Cherokee that was moving west on Ford Road, according to police.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, as of Friday morning, according to police.

Police did not identify the girl.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

"Our prayers are with the victim’s family, as well as the school staff and students at Fordson, and we hope for an eventual recovery," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. "We continue to urge drivers to pay attention to their surroundings, slow down and be safe on the roads."

Police were working with officials at the Dearborn Public Schools district, where grief counseling were available to both staff and students.
