Dearborn Rep Calls On White House To Safety Return Americans From Gaza
Dearborn Rep. Alabas Farhat is calling on the White House to safety bring back Americans, including a Dearborn couple, from Gaza.
DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn area representative Alabas Farhat is calling on the Biden administration to safety bring back Americans, including a Dearborn couple, from Gaza ahead of an expected Israeli ground invasion.
"I am outraged by the lack of empathy toward innocent Arabs in danger," Farhat said. "The glaring indifference the Biden administration has shown to the suffering of my people only guarantees more innocent lives will be lost in Gaza. The United States has been able to secure safe passage for American Israelis in the region, and the same must be done for Palestinian Americans."
Farhat said the Alarayashi family, who are from Dearborn, are trapped in Gaza and need U.S. help to safety return to Dearborn.

"We need to bring them back, no excuses," Farhat said. "The Alarayashi family deserves the full protection of the U.S. government, and I’m demanding answers from the State Department about their situation and will not stop until we are successful in bringing the Alarayashi family home."
Farhat also said the U.S. must immediately intervene for peace in the region and aggressively push the Israeli government to reinstate electricity, water and crucial humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Farhat's statements echo the words of U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib's, who also represents the same area and criticized the Biden administration for failing to empathize with Palestinians amid the war in Gaza.
Violence erupted in the region after surprise attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7 killed more than 1,300 Israelis, most of whom were civilians, officials said.
Israel retaliated by launching rockets into Gaza and cutting off water and electricity to the region, officials said.
More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed and more than 2,800 people have been killed, according to officials in both regions.
President Biden is expected to travel to Israel on Wednesday. Biden’s trip to Israel is "to demonstrate his steadfast support for Israel in the face of Hamas’s brutal terrorist attack and to consult on next steps," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
