Dearborn Residents in Running for FOX Sports Detroit Girl Competition

Sports fans can participate in online voting from Aug. 1-8 to help determine the competition's winner.

FOX Sports Detroit is holding a contest to cast a new FOX Sports Detroit Girl following the announcement that its current spokeswoman is stepping down.

The contest launched July 1 on FOXSportsDetroit.com.

Through July 19, interested fans can go to FOXSportsDetroit.com where they can upload a video up to two minutes describing/demonstrating their affinity for Detroit sports and why they should be the next FOX Sports Detroit Girl. Ten finalists will be selected by the network, with online voting from Aug. 1-8 to help determine the winner. The new FOX Sports Detroit Girl will be announced Aug. 14.

Nagsheen Nassif of Dearborn, a graduate student studying media arts at Wayne State University, is one of 27 girls who have already uploaded profiles to the FOX Sports website. Nassif, who anchored her own TV show and interned for FOX News, says she loves everything about Detroit sports.

"I can't wait to bring my dynamic and energetic personality to FOX Sports," Nassif said.

Elena of Dearborn Heights, a graduate of the University of Michigan, is also in the running for the competition.

"I want to be your next FOX Sports Detroit Girl because of the amazing, hardworking, energetic fans Detroit has. The pride and desire the city has is widely recognized and something I have not seen before," she said.

The new FOX Sports Detroit Girl will be featured in on-air promos and web/print advertisements. The winner will also make personal appearances at community event and game venues as well as interact on all FOX Sports Detroit Girl social media sites.
