Dearborn Residents Looking to Revive Neighborhood Watch Program

Residents living near Duvall Elementary School in Dearborn will meet with police on May 8.

Residents of the Duvall-Edison Neighborhood Association in Dearborn are working with the Dearborn Police Department to revive a Neighborhood Watch program in their community.

An informational meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. May 8 in the cafeteria at Duvall Elementary School.

Interested families can meet with Officer Dan Bartok, who will provide an overview of crime prevention tips, crime reporting, and how to sustain an active Neighborhood Watch program.

"We'd like to revive the existing association to not only prevent crime around the Ford Historic Homes District, but to also enhance our area through events such as garden exchanges, park facelifts, block parties, etc.," resident Windy Weber said.

Weber said the neighborhood had an active association years ago that was organized by resident Joan Grieg. Over time, however, group participation declined.

"Let's revive the Duvall-Edison Neighborhood Association and work together to make our neighborhood the great place we want it to be!" she said.
