Detroit Man Arrested for Shoplifting Razors from Walmart

A 48-year-old Detroit man was arrested by Dearborn Police for allegedly shoplifting two Gillette razors from the Walmart located at 5851 Mercury Drive in Dearborn.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the store around 11:30 a.m. on May 14 after receiving a call from the store's loss prevention security.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a loss prevention associate who informed them that he observed the man select two razors from the cosmetics aisle and quickly exit the area.

Store surveillance cameras show the suspect pay for several other items at a checkout kiosk and place the two razors in a shopping bag before attempting to exit the store. Security officers stopped the man and detained him for questioning upon locating the razors (approximately $43.94).
The man was arrested for third degree retail fraud.

Laptop stolen from Comcast van
On May 13, an employee with Comcast cable company came to the Dearborn Police Station to report the theft of a company laptop computer.
According to police reports, the employee told officers that he parked his truck in the lot in front of 10505 Dix Ave. around 10 a.m. Sometime between 10 a.m. and noon, an unknown person entered the unlocked van and removed the laptop. No other items were taken from the van, and no suspect information was able at the time of this posting.
Customer bags sunglasses at Fairlane Mall
On May 11, officers with the Dearborn Police Department were dispatched to Solstice, 18900 Michigan Ave., for a report of a 46-year-old Detroit woman in custody for alleged retail fraud.
Upon arrival, officers met with the store's loss prevention staff, who informed them that the woman walked away from the store and was unable to be located. Police interviewed a sales clerk who said she witnessed the woman select a pair of Prada sunglasses (approximate value $299), remove the price tag, and place the item in a shopping bag.
The woman and another female passed several registers without paying for the sunglasses, and attempted to exit the store. Both women were stopped by Fairlane Town Center security and gave consent for a bag search, which yielded negative results.
After viewing the mall's surveillance tapes, officers located one of the women still on the property, who provided the name and cell phone number of a suspect matching the store's description. Officers will attempt to follow up and contact the suspect to retrieve the sunglasses.
