Two Women Caught Shoplifting from Dollar General Store in Dearborn

Dearborn Police officers arrested two women for allegedly attempting to steal several items from the Dollar General store at 7630 Wyoming St. on March 31.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the store around 10:54 a.m. in response to a retail fraud complaint.

Upon arrival, store employees directed officers to two women, ages 17 and 27, whom they said were concealing items in their purses.

Officers approached the women outside the store and asked them to show the contents in their purses. Officers recovered numerous clothing and body care accessories totaling $87. The store manager confirmed that the items were not purchased by the women.

The women, both residents of Detroit, were arrested and charged with third degree retail fraud.

Damage to Property

On March 30, officers with the Dearborn Police Department were dispatched to Fairlane Plaza, 290 Town Center Drive, in response to a vehicle larceny complaint.

According to police records, officers made contact with Fairlane Plaza security, who informed them a 2011 Ford Fusion Sport was found with the driver's side window smashed out in the lower level of the plaza's parking structure.

Upon inspecting the the car, officers discovered nothing missing and the ignition intact. A black metal rod laying on the ground near the car was recovered and processed as evidence, police said.

Officers reviewed the parking security tapes and observed two males approximately 6 feet in height, wearing black shirts and dark jeans, approach the vehicle at 5:51 p.m. and break its window before fleeing on foot.

The vehicle is registered to Imagination the Americas, Inc. The owner of the vehicle was contacted by police.
