Ex Contract Worker Busted in Theft of Laptops From Ford Motor Company
Suspect accused of stealing $30,000 worth of laptops from Ford Motor Company.

DEARBORN, MI — 39-year-old Jeffrey Allen Griffin, of Detroit, is suspected of stealing 20 laptops and a trove of electronics totaling thousands of dollars from Ford Motor Company, according to Dearborn police.
The thefts began back in August and Dearborn police teamed up with Ford Motor Company Security to launch an investigation.
On Oct. 17, police observed Griffin, an ex-employee contracted with a third party, entering several Ford Motor Company buildings in Dearborn and leaving with laptops, docking stations and accessories. Griffin was arrested at the scene and police discovered numerous laptops in his vehicle. Investigators ultimately recovered 20 stolen laptops valued at nearly $30,000, as well as a stash of electronic equipment.

The suspect is facing 11 felonies. On Oct. 20, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office approved felony charges including embezzlement over $50,000; embezzlement over $20,000; receiving and concealing stolen property over $20,000; using a computer to commit a crime; entering a building with Intent and Habitual Offender 2nd Offense. Griffin was arraigned and issued a $25,000 cash bond. He was given a Preliminary Exam date of Nov. 4 at 9:00 a.m.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement, "During a long and well-coordinated investigation between Ford Motor Company and the Dearborn Police Department, our officers were able to develop and follow leads, ultimately bringing this individual to justice. I'd like to thank Ford Motor Company for their cooperation during this lengthy investigation."
