First Eid Festival To Be Held In Dearborn

The free community event will feature food trucks, entertainment, kids activities and giveaways.

DEARBORN, MI — A new festival is coming to Dearborn.

Community leaders, city officials and residents have come together to host the first ever Eid Festival in Dearborn. It will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 in the parking lot of the Dearborn Police Department. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will include games, family activities like magic shows, face painting, bounce houses, and cartoon characters. There will be giveaways for the adults, a photo booth, food trucks and an ice cream truck, too.

"This will be a great opportunity for families to enjoy and celebrate eid in a friendly and safe environment," said Hussein Hachem, organizer of the festival. "We want families from all backgrounds to mingle, get to know each other and simply have fun."

The event is hosted as a collaboration between What's Up Media Network and the Dearborn Police Department.

"The Dearborn Police Department can always be counted on to partner with agencies in our city to celebrate our diversity and to serve the common good," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said about the new event."

Others on the organizing committee include Khodr Farhat, Mona Daher, Hiba Haidar, Moe Zbib, Zack Haidar, Zeinab Hachem, Amy Hassan, Joe Hazimi and Joseph Noles.
