Free Hockey Day, Plus Other Events Happening in Dearborn This Week
Here's a look at events for the week ahead in Dearborn.

It's the start of a new week, and there's plenty of events happening around town. Here's a look at our top five picks.
1. FOLD book and media sale
The Friends of the Library Dearborn (FOLD) will host their next book and media sale on Oct. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Henry Ford Centennial Library. Hardcovers, paperbacks, magazines, DVD, VHS, CDs and more will be available.
2. The American War in Vietnam: 1959-1975
The Friends of the Library Dearborn present a lecture titled "The American War in Vietnam: 1959 to 1975," featuring guest speaker Dr. Donald M. Borsand, military historian. The program will be held in the Henry Ford Centennial Library auditorium at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1. The event is open to the public.
3. Try Hockey for Free Day
This free trial is for children ages 4-9 who are interested in trying hockey for the first time. All equipment will be provided. All you need to bring is your desire to have fun. The event takes place Oct. 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.
4. Dearborn Symphony Opening Night Dinner
Celebrate opening night with a special dinner at the 19th District Court. “Dinner at the Courthouse,” will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 4. For tickets and information, visit the Dearborn Symphony website.
5. Homecoming Week at UM-Dearborn
Homecoming Week at the University of Michigan-Dearborn takes place Oct. 2-5. Whether you are a recent graduate, or if you were part of the graduating classes during the last 50 years, UM-Dearborn has a Homecoming event for you.
