Gas Prices Up 8 Cents Following Fourth of July Weekend

DEARBORN — Gas prices have risen 8 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.53 per gallon, according to a new report released by AAA Michigan on Monday.

The auto club said the average is about 1 cent per gallon less than this time last year.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan said the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Traverse City area, where it's roughly $3.40 a gallon. The highest average is in the Ann Arbor area at about $3.55 a gallon.

According to Michigan Gas Prices.com, the cheapest gas in Dearborn was found at the BP station at 15500 Michigan Ave. The price for one gallon of unleaded gasoline was listed at $3.33. The Marathon station at 12921 Michigan Ave. listed gas prices at $3.34 a gallon.
