Inkster Man's Death Second Fatality on Michigan Avenue in a Week

A 35-year-old Inkster man died when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle in Dearborn on Thursday.

Dearborn Police have confirmed that a 35-year-old Inkster man was killed early Thursday morning when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle on Michigan Avenue.

According to a press release from the department, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near westbound Michigan Avenue and northbound Gulley Road.

"Our investigation into this accident is continuing at this time and currently it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved," the department said in a written statement.

The city of Dearborn has experienced several fatal accidents in recent weeks. On May 13, Destiny Henderson, a junior at Inkster High School, died when a SMART bus struck her Ford Escort from behind while it was stopped at a traffic light on Michigan Avenue near American Drive.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said drivers should be extra vigilant as traffic on city roads increase during the summer months.
