Latest Dearborn City Council Primary Results 2021

Eighteen candidates for city council in Dearborn hoped to advance to the general election in November. Find out which ones did.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn voters headed to the polls Tuesday to narrow down the race for mayor and city council. They also cast their ballots on two proposals.

For the city council race, there were many candidates for voters to choose from. Eighteen candidates ran during the primary: Ziad Abdulmalik, Robert A. Abraham, Jonathon Akkari, Saeid Mashgari Alawathi, Kamal Alsawafy, Houda Berri, Erin Byrnes, Silvio Davis, Kamel Elkadri, Lola Elzein, Gary Enos, Khodr Farhat, Mustapha Hammoud, Leslie C. Herrick, Sam Luqman, Khalil Othman, Ken Paris and Michael T. Sareini.

Voters could select up to seven of them.

The top 14 council candidates will move ahead to the Nov. 3 general election.

Abraham, Sareini, Byrnes and Herrick have served on city council for years. All four will advance to the general election in November. The others ran for office for the first time during this year's primary.

Voters in Dearborn also decided the outcome of two proposals, one which asked for a renewal of a six-year library millage and the second a review of the city charter.
