Roast Plant Coffee Offers 'Microbatch" Brewing

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — “Just roasted, just brewed, just for you.” That the marketing line for Dearborn Heights newest coffee shop, Roasting Plant Coffee at 26931 Ford Road. Customers can pick up to four different coffee beans and then watch it become a hot cup of coffee in about a minute.

“We designed, developed and maintain our own automated roasting and brewing system,” Roasting Plant co-founder Thomas Hartocollis said. “The core is microbatch roasting, and we do it in every store we operate. You can go into the Dearborn Heights location and see coffee being roasted, and choose from any bean we offer.”

“The automation allows people to create their own custom cup,” Hartocollis said. “If they want a Sumatra bean and a Guatemalan bean, we’ll grind them and brew it right there.”
