Security Thwarts Attempted Burglary at West Village Pharmacy

An unknown suspect or suspects attempted to gain entry into the West Village Pharmacy in the 2000 block of Monroe Street on March 19.
According to Dearborn Police reports, officers were dispatched to the pharmacy around 8:37 a.m. in response to a suspicious circumstances complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed the building's eastside glass door broken, with a hole punched near the double deadbolt.
No entry into the pharmacy was gained, police said.

Officers made contact with a store employee, who informed them that the store's camera system could only be accessed by the store owner. Upon a further search of the property, officers discovered that the store's alarm had been set, but was not activated during the attempted break-in.

Larceny
On March 19, a Dearborn resident contacted police to inform officers that several items were removed from his car between noon and 12:30 p.m. on March 17.
According to police reports, the owner of a 2005 Chrysler 300 reported that while the vehicle was parked in the Kroger parking lot at 23303 Michigan Ave., and unknown suspect or suspects entered the unlocked vehicle and removed several pieces of turquoise jewelry valued at $10,000.
Officers contacted the store's manager, who informed them that the outdoor security cameras could not see the victim's car due to its location in the back of the store.
The case is closed pending further investigative leads.
Burglary
On March 19, Dearborn Police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Calhoun Street in Dearborn in response a home invasion complaint.
According to police records, a 20-year-old woman informed police that an unknown suspect or suspects attempted to force their way into her apartment between 9:30 and 10:15 p.m.
Upon further investigation, officers observed fresh damage to the apartment's door frame and dead bolt lock. No entry was gained into the apartment, and no items were removed, police said.
The case is closed.
