Two Dearborn Homes Burglarized Over Weekend

The Dearborn Police Department is investigating two separate home burglaries that occurred over the weekend.

On March 17, deputies were dispatched to the 18000 block of N. Outer Drive around 11:30 a.m. in response to a burglary complaint. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowner, who indicated that sometime between 2 p.m. on March 13, and 11:30 a.m. on March 17, an unknown suspect or suspects smashed out the rear sliding door at the house to gain entry.

According to police records, the house was unoccupied at the time of the burglary, and the owners were in the process of selling the property. Several small cardboard boxes were stolen.

Officers also responded to a home burglary in the 7000 block of S. Manor Road. According to police records, the homeowners came to the police station on March 17 and informed officers that someone entered their residence through an unlocked window and removed several items.

A white fur coat valued at $2,000, two charity boxes with $150 in cash, a purple butterfly gold necklace, a gold necklace, and miscellaneous jewelry were taken from the property, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the house but were unable to obtain evidence of the break-in. The case remains open pending further investigative leads.
