DEARBORN, MI — Students around Dearborn will be equipped with some new mittens this month, thanks to a local volunteer project.

Mittens for Detroit will visit William Ford Elementary School in Dearborn to distribute mittens and gloves to students. It's set to be the first of 12 Dearborn Public Schools that volunteers will visit to distribute some 6,200 pairs of mittens to students. It happens Feb. 13.

The volunteers are Fiat Chrysler Automobiles employees called through the company's Motor Citizens volunteer program. They will join Mittens for Detroit in distributing gloves and mittens to the students.
