Voter Registration Deadline And Other Important Dates in October
Here are five important events taking place in Dearborn during the month of October.

October is upon us, and while the leaves start to change color and the weather becomes cooler, here is a look at some important events in Dearborn.
1. Voter registration deadline
The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 7. To check your registration status, visit the Secretary of State Voter Registration Center.
2. Loose lead collection begins
Leaf removal will begin the week of Oct. 24 and end on Dec. 7. To make it easier for crews to pick up the leaves and to keep streets safer, residents are encouraged to rake leaves into the street only on the day before their neighborhood’s Public Service Day.
3. End of Dearborn Farmers Market
The Dearborn Farmers Market will close for the 2013 season on Oct. 18. The market is open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.dearbornfarmersartisansmarket.com/.
4. MEAP Testing at Dearborn Public Schools
Testing for the Michigan Educational Assessment Program will take place Oct. 8-11 at Dearborn Public Schools. Make sure students get a good night's rest prior to each testing day.
5. Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village
Step back in time to a turn of the 20th century Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village. Follow an endless path of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns, and meet colorful characters along the way. Feel the whoosh as the headless horseman rides by, banter with a clever witch and make stops at several treat stations spread throughout Greenfield Village. It’s frightfully fun for the whole family. Dates are Oct. 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27. For information, visit https://www.thehenryford.org.
