The saga surrounding Turkia Mullin took another turn Monday when the Wayne County Airport Authority fired her as CEO.

The decision may have ended Mullin’s brief tenure with the airport, but it has not quieted the controversy that has ensnared not only Mullin but Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.

In fact, Detroit Free Press columnist Rochelle Riley said that Mullin’s firing was a blast against Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.

Detroit News columnist Daniel Howes said that Mullin’s firing—and the uproar created from her severance package when she left her position as Wayne County’s economic developer—should serve as a warning for Ficano and that cronyism has no place in the county.

Jeff Gerritt, a Free Press columnist, wrote that the airport bungled both Mullin’s hiring and firing.
