1 Dead, Multiple Hurt In Wrong-Way Crash On I-96 In Detroit: Police
Investigators do not know if alcohol, drugs or a medical condition played a role in the crash.

DETROIT — A woman died and multiple others were injured in a wrong-way crash in Detroit early Sunday morning, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 3:15 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 96 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to police.
Police said a sedan was moving east in the westbound lanes of the freeway and struck an SUV head-on.

The woman driving the sedan was killed in the crash, according to police.
Multiple others were taken to nearby hospitals where their conditions were unknown, according to police.

Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage in the crash, which closed down the freeway for more than two hours early Sunday morning, according to police.
"Troopers (were) investigating this crash on scene and attempting to determine how the driver entered the freeway in the wrong direction," Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "They will also need to wait on medical examiner reports to see if the driver was impaired or had a medical condition."
