15-Year-Old Boy Arrested In Wild Metro Detroit Police Chase: Sheriff

There were no injuries in the crash.

MONROE COUNTY, MI — A 15-year-old boy was arrested after a police chase Sunday night in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Officers tried stopping a vehicle on East Third Street near South Monroe Street at 8 p.m., but the driver sped away, reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour on the 25 miles per hour street, according to officials.

Officers immediately terminated the chase, but started another moments later after they spotted the speeding vehicle on Winchester Street near E. Elm Street, according to officials.

Monroe County Deputy Sheriff Jacob Llewellyn joined the chase on northbound Interstate 75 near Dixie, according to officials.

The driver continued speeding away from officers into Frenchtown Township, before returning to back into Monroe, according to officials.

Officers finally stopped the vehicle when he pulled into a driveway on Navarre Street, according to officials.

The 15-year-old driver was arrested in connection with the chase, while his 13-year-old passenger was released to family members, according to officials.

The 15-year-old boy was placed at the Monroe County Youth Center awaiting charges, according to officials.

Officials did not say why officers initially tried stopping the car. They also did not release any details about the vehicle, or who owns the car.

There were no injuries in the crash.
