2 Inches of Slushy Snow, Rain Friday: Metro Detroit Weather

METRO DETROIT — Wet weather is expected to move into the metro Detroit region Friday as temperatures warm into the 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas south of Interstate 94 in the metro region will see rain develop Thursday night, before more widespread rain moves into the area during the overnight hours, according to the weather service.

By Friday morning, the rain will cover most areas south of Interstate 69 in southeastern Michigan as temperatures remain above freezing, according to the weather service.

The rain will then start mixing into snow in some parts of the metro region during the afternoon hours Friday when temperatures fall near freezing, according to the weather service.

Forecasters expect some parts of the metro region can see up to 2 inches of slushy snow by the nighttime hours Friday, according to the weather service.

The wet weather will move out of the metro region by the morning hours Saturday when much cooler air moves back into the region, according to the weather service.

It won't stick around for long, however, as highs will soar back into the 40s Sunday with another chance for a wintry mix, according to the weather service.
