3 Inches Of Snow Possible Across Detroit Area Tuesday: MI Weather

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — Some parts of southeastern Michigan can see up to 3 inches of snow Tuesday as bitter cold temperatures settle into the region, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston and St. Clair counties.
Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of fresh snow to fall in those areas by Tuesday afternoon.

The heaviest snow bands are expected between Michigan 59 and Interstate 94 in the Detroit area, according to the weather service.
The snow bands will be capable of producing heavy snow squalls that can reduce visibility and produce accumulation quickly, according to the weather service.

The snow showers will fade away during the nighttime hours Tuesday, giving away to a dry but cold Wednesday, according to the weather service.
Overnight lows Wednesday will fall into the teens with wind chill readings dropping to as low as -3 in southeastern Michigan, according to the weather service.
Another round of light snow showers then moves into the region Thursday, according to the weather service.
Temperatures return to the 30s across southeastern Michigan by the weekend, but then another arctic front will sweep down into the region, bringing some of the coldest air of the winter season so far, according to the weather service.
Highs across southeastern Michigan will be in the single digits or low teens for multiple days next week, according to the weather service.
