Animal Lovers March For Michigan Humane Society
The two-day event features animal lovers and their best friends at Kensington Metropark and downtown Detroit.

MICHIGAN — Animal lovers will be delighted to know that there are two back-to-back Michigan Humane Society events in October. The MHS expects some 1,000 supporters and their dogs at each event.
The 13th annual Mega March For Animals will be held Oct. 6 and 7. The first event will be held at Kensington Metropark, where the event has been for the last six years. The walk runs 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, at the park’s Martindale Beach, located at 4570 Huron River Parkway in Milford.
The following day the march will take place downtown Detroit, after four years at Belle Isle. The event will run the same time, at the Detroit Riverwalk’s Cullen Plaza (formerly the Rivard Plaza) t 1340 Atwater Street in Detroit.

Families will enjoy beautiful fall views as they walk up to two miles. They will also meet and mingle (and sniff) with many adoptees once housed at the charity. In the process, marchers will fulfill the pledges they have recorded since July.
This support is essential because the average dog and cat comes to MHS needing more than $500 in care, organizers say.
Walkers at Kensington Metropark will enjoy free admission (up to a $10 value). Walkers in Detroit will enjoy a free Pack Walk guided by Canine to Five. And all those who register will receive a free event t-shirt.
Visit MichiganHumane.org/megamarch to register. Registration is free for the first time thanks to presenting sponsor Sellers Subaru. Other sponsors include Nestle Purina PetCare, US-Mattress, the Petco Foundation and many others.
