Detroit Airport Officials Ask TSA To Stop Playing Kristi Noem Video

"The Wayne County Airport Authority does not engage in partisan politics," a sign near checkpoint entrances reads.

ROMULUS, MI — Detroit airport officials have asked the Transportation Security Administration to stop playing a video featuring Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the current federal government shutdown.

The video, which is shown on monitors in the facility, shows Noem warning travelers that TSA procedures may be impacted because "Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal government."

"Because of this, many of our operations are impacted, and most of our TSA employees are working without pay," she continued.

Officials with the Wayne County Airport Authority said they do not operate the checkpoint monitors, which are located in a TSA-leased space. Moreover, they said the federal agency did not seek approval to play the video.

Airport officials addressed the issue with a sign near the checkpoint entrances.
