Quick Thaw With Rain, Then Flash Freezing And Snow Amid Arctic Blast: Metro Detroit Weather
Forecasters also warned the rain along with melting snow could cause flooding concerns in some areas.
A significant storm system along with rapidly changing temperatures is expected to bring rain, flash freezing and snow to the Metro Detroit region this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will rise above freezing Wednesday before widespread rainfall moves into the area Thursday as highs soar into the upper 40s, the weather service said.
Some areas could see up to a half an inch of rain, causing flooding concerns along with melting snow, the weather service said.

Another concern is flash freezing, as temperatures will plunge into the lower 20s during the overnight hours when an arctic airmass moves into the area, the weather service said.
The cold front will also bring light snow showers, which forecasters say will continue into the early afternoon hours. Some areas could see up to an inch of fresh snow by Friday afternoon, the weather service said.

Although the snowfall totals aren't impressive, forecasters warned the snow could hide ice on the roads and make for a slippery morning drive. Highs will climb back toward the 30s by the afternoon hours.
Forecasters expect sunny skies with highs above freezing across the Detroit area this weekend.
