Scattered snow showers will stick around through at least the afternoon hours Friday, forecasters said.

Snow showers and frigid temperatures return to the Detroit area Friday after an unseasonably warm day, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said some areas may see up to an inch of fresh snow. Steady winds with gusts reaching up to 40 miles per hour will also linger throughout the day, the weather service said.

Wind chills will drop into the single digits overnight before highs across the area climb back toward 40 degrees Saturday, the weather service said.

Highs will be cooler Sunday and Monday with another chance for snow during the nighttime hours, the weather service said.

Looking ahead, highs could hit 50 degrees with rain on Christmas Day across the area, the weather service said.
