Detroit Fire Chief Under Investigation After Crash: Reports
A battalion chief with the Detroit Fire Department is under investigation following reports he was drunk when he crashed his vehicle Monday.
DETROIT — A Detroit fire battalion chief is being investigated amid reports he was driving while under the influence when he crashed a department vehicle early Monday morning, according to news reports.
The driver of a Detroit Fire Department SUV that crashed Monday morning near Milwaukee Avenue, Fox 2 reported. The TV station cited unnamed sources in its report and posted images of the vehicle, which appeared to crash into wired fencing over the highway.
The SUV has a "Chief 5" decal on the back window in the images.

Monday's news comes days after reports surfaced that a city firefighter was being investigated for crashing a fire engine into a vehicle while responding to a fire call on Feb. 20.
In that incident, the driver had a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit at the time of the crash, according to reports.
