Detroit Man Accused Of Carjacking, Robbing Woman With Infant
Prosecutors said that when the man sped away in the vehicle he hit the woman and her 1-year-old infant.
DETROIT, MI — A Detroit man has been accused of carjacking a 35-year-old Detroit woman and her 1-year-old infant, prosecutors said Monday.
Jerome Mack Fitzpatrick, 46, is charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery, receiving and concealing stolen property valued over $20,000 and the unlawful driving away of an automobile, prosecutors said. Fitzpatrick was arraigned Monday and bail was set at $250,000, prosecutors said.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutors Office, on March 7, a woman was carjacked while dropping her child off at a relative's home in the 18470 block of Sussex. While in the home's drive, the woman got out of the vehicle, removed her child from the car seat when Fitzpatrick, prosecutors said, got into the vehicle, put the car in reverse and sped away.

The car hit and injured the woman and the child, prosecutors said. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the woman and her child to a local hospital, prosecutors said.
Detroit police arrested Fitzpatrick June 5, prosecutors said.

Fitzpatrick will appear in court for a probable cause conference June 17, with preliminary examination scheduled for June 24, prosecutors said.
