Detroit Man Shoots, Injures Mom: Police
The 78-year-old woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was stable, police said.
DETROIT — A 78-year-old woman is recovering after police said she was shot multiple times by her son in Detroit on Thursday.
The shooting happened around 1 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 16700 block of Rutherford, Detroit Police Captain Matthew Bray told reporters.
Bray said officers responded to the home on reports of a shooting and found the 78-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was stable, Bray said.

The son, who is in his 50s, was arrested in connection with the shooting. Officers also took multiple guns from the home, Bray said.
It was unclear if the two lived together at the home and what sparked the shooting. Bray said police were still investigating the shooting.
