Detroit Officer Suspended After This Offensive Post

The officer called Detroiters "zoo animals." Now he's in trouble with the department.

DETROIT, MI — A Detroit Police Officer has been suspended and an investigation has been opened after he posted a photo on Snapchat with a racially-charged message that went viral.

Sean Bostwick, who works in the 12th Precinct, posted a photo of himself in his uniform with the caption "Another night to Rangel (sic) up these zoo animals."

Former police officer John Bennett shared the post to criticize it on Sunday and his message went viral. Bennett co-chaired the department's discrimination committee and released a report on racism in the department last year, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The post originated on Sunday afternoon and action was taken by the department by Monday morning, according to reports.
