Detroit Summer Classes Can Continue In Person: Report
A judge has ruled that in-person summer classes at Detroit Public Schools can continue as long as students are tested for the coronavirus.
DETROIT, MI — Detroit Public Schools has been ordered to create a plan for students to be tested for the coronavirus in the next two days if they intend to continue with in-person summer classes, according to reports.
A federal judge ordered the district to come up with the safety measure while otherwise allowing the in-person classes to continue, The Detroit News reported Tuesday.
The district is the subject of a lawsuit aiming to close school buildings to summer school classes due to an increase in coronavirus cases.

Summer school for the district began on July 13, with the semester ending Aug. 6. Summer classes are scheduled for four hours Monday through Thursday. The district has been offering in-person and online learning.
Since classes opened, district buses have been met with protesters each morning, prompting arrests nearly every day.
