Detroit Woman Accused Of Shooting Boyfriend On New Years Day

A Detroit woman accused of shooting her boyfriend has been charged with first-degree murder, Wayne County prosecutors said Monday.

DETROIT, MI — A Detroit woman accused of shooting her boyfriend on New Years Day has been charged with first-degree murder, Wayne County prosecutors said Monday.

Kiantay Lovett-McCall, 24, was arraigned Sunday in 34th District Court on one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony firearm, prosecutors said. McCall's probable cause conference and preliminary examination dates have yet to be scheduled, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, Detroit police were called to a house in the 18090 block of Griggs around 1:39 a.m. Friday where they found 31-year-old Willie Mills, of Detroit, on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced Mills dead at the scene, officials said.

McCall and Mills, who lived together at the home, had gotten into an argument that ended with McCall grabbing a gun and shooting Mills multiple times, according to prosecutors.
