Detroit Woman Killed, 1 Hurt In I-75 Crash: Police
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
MONROE COUNTY, MI — A Detroit woman was killed and another person was injured in an overnight three-car crash on Interstate 75 in Monroe County, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday on southbound Interstate 75 near Gaynier Road in Erie Township, according to police.
Police said the 56-year-old Detroit woman was driving a 2023 Hyundai Kona and slammed into the back of a semi-truck. The woman then lost control of the car and hit a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, before striking the median wall and coming to a rest, according to police.

The woman and her passenger, a 43-year-old Detroit man, were taken to a nearby hospital where the woman died, according to police.
The man was treated for minor injuries he suffered in the crash, according to police.

The semi truck driver and the driver of the Pacifica, a 33-year-old Warren man, who had three passengers in the car with him, were not injured in the crash, according to police.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
